We’re used to writing about multi-million pound funding rounds for tech startups. Music marketing agencies… less so. Congratulations are thus due to Round Group, which works across music and entertainment, for a £4m round announced last week.
The money comes from investment firm Foresight Group, which said that the funding aims to support “a domestic growth plan and international expansion in to US and APAC markets, along with continued development of Round’s technology platforms and key future hires”.
Round runs campaigns for artists, labels and live events, as well as films and brands. But it has also built its own tech platform for campaigns, payments and analytics. So, it’s part tech startup after all.
Bad Gyal, CMAT, Olivia Rodrigo and PinkPantheress are among its recent case studies in the music sphere, while the company has also published research on topics including Meta reels’ potential for music.
Alongside the funding, Round has a new non-executive chair: Liz Sands, former CEO of creative-talent agency Great Bowery. “It’s rare to find a business that combines such a strong growth outlook with technology that is shaping a new market,” she wrote in a LinkedIn post announcing the appointment.
